The Earth to Tables Legacies project has brought together a small group of food activists across big differences – youth/elders, rural/urban, Indigenous/settler, Canadian/Mexican – for an exchange around food justice and food sovereignty. The website has a multimedia educational package that includes facilitator’s guides, further resources and commentaries by activists and academics.

CRAFT Ontario – the Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training in South West Ontario (CRAFTSW Ontario), with CRAFT programs in other regions of the province, offers internships for a full, hands-on experience in ecological farming. 

Everdale offers Farmer Training for farm business plan development.

FoodShare offers workshops and training for educators.

Garden Jane – presents healthy food and garden education including offers workshops, permaculture courses, garden coaching and group activities.   

Green Roofs for Healthy Cities – training courses leading to certification for Green Roof Professionals. 

Homestead TO - offers a hands-on Grow Veggies training in person and online

Colleges & Universities

Durham College, Centre for Food (CFF) – with a focus on the food-to-fork concept, courses are offered on horticulture and food leading to a diploma.

Humber College - offers Horticulture Science courses and apprenticeships.

Toronto Metropolitan University – the Centre for Studies in Food Security is now offering a certificate program in urban agriculture.

University of Guelph's Horticulture Online Studies offers a variety of online courses, certificates and diplomas including the Sustainable Urban Agriculture Certificate.  


The Guelph Urban Organic Farm (GCUOF) is a 1 hectare learning and research facility established by the Ontario Agricultural College within the Department of Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph.
