Urban Beekeeping Certificate
May 18th 2016. 18:00 to 21:00This six session series spans the seasonal cycle of bee keeping from spring to fall. Come experience and learn together with 15 people! The small class gives you lots of opportunity for interaction between other students, beekeepers and bees.

Beekeeping Sessions
Session 1: The Honey Bee and Beekeeping Basics
Learn the basics of beekeeping, the fundamentals of hive checks and skills to become a beekeeper.

Session 3: Beekeeping skills and Bee Health
Go deeper into the fundamentals of checking a hive, how to monitor and help maintain bee health in your colonies.

Session 5: Products of the hive and mini harvest
Learn how to extract honey, work with wax and options for harvesting from the hive.

Session 6: Late summer/ Fall work for the Beekeeper and Preparing for winter
Learn about what to be looking for in hive checks in the fall and concerns for the colony moving into winter.
