Farmers are the original plant breeders. But the practice of plant breeding has disappeared from most farms, and is now in the hands of only a few agricultural institutions and companies – how can we bring back this lost art into the farming community again?
At this session, get a crash course on the basic concepts of plant breeding, and hear the success stories of organic farmers and seed producers that are breeding and developing new on-farm varieties today, that will become the heirlooms of tomorrow.
