Green New Deal Hope for the Planet and Refugees

May 27th 2019. 18:00 to 20:30

Monday, May 27, 6:30pm
Romero House

Climate change will create millions of refugees in the months and years ahead, as people are forced to leave their homes due to rising sea levels, flooding, hurricanes, desertification and more. A Green New Deal is our best chance to curb climate change before it's too late. We invite members of the Romero House community (a community of welcome for refugees) and anyone else interested in a better world to join us for a discussion about what a Green New Deal in Canada should look like.

This event is one of many Green New Deal town halls being held in communities across the country in May 2019. The conversation is being led from the ground up through town halls bringing together people from all walks of life to discuss our vision for a new economy -- one that cuts global warming pollution; sees the full implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Right to Free Prior and Informed Consent, and Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommendations; creates millions of green jobs; and makes sure no one gets left behind. The input from these town halls will be used to inform a vision for a Green New Deal for all.

Hope to see you there!
Please RSVP as space is limited.
